There lived two close friends in a village. They always stayed together and helped each other. One day, they decided to go to a distant town through a forest. Before entering the forest, they promised to help each other in every difficult situation.

After walking for some time, they suddenly saw a large bear coming towards them. Both friends became frightened. One of them quickly climbed up a tree without thinking about his friend. The other friend did not know how to climb a tree.

He remembered that bears usually do not attack a person who lies still. So, he fell on the ground and held his breath. The bear came near him, smelled his body, and then went away. The man got up safely after the bear disappeared.

His friend came down from the tree and asked, “What did the bear whisper in your ear?” He replied, “The bear advised me not to trust a friend who leaves me alone in danger.” The selfish friend felt ashamed of his behavior.
